While I write – you can read…
As long as YOU’RE not writing that is…
- Billy Wilder Speaks
- Man of mystery revealed
- He’s in the gutter, but thinks he’s a star
- Mad as Hell In a new book, a mildly mellowed Joe Eszterhas issues a call to arms to fledgling screenwriters
- For Maloofs, Blood Is Key to Gutsy Bets
- ‘Feast’ limited release is really limited
- ‘Feast’ is a buffet of laughable failure
- Inaugural ‘LA Times’ Screenwriter Feature Makes Sweet, Sweet Love To Charlie Kaufman
- Never Doubt the Power of the Screenwriter
- Minnesota screenwriter’s writing finally hits the screen
If you’re writing, KEEP WRITING. This stuff can wait — YOUR WRITING CANNOT!
As per Moviequill’s request along with several others, I am working on a list of screenwriting books that I highly recommend… The difference being with this list is WHY I recommend the book.
I’ve also been getting a lot of emails about my list of rolling blogs to the right… Hey, it’s just an experiment and YES, I have visited every one of these blogs. For the first few days, I just checked to see if the blogs had something to do about screenwriting… If so, I threw them up.
Now I’m perusing them blog by blog for updates… If they are a couple of months old, no problem… Any older and I’ll probably drop it from the list.
I might eventually BOIL them down to the ones that I feel are the best of the best but that’s further down the road.
Back to the rewrite…

Great list of articles, Unk.
You had me nervous with the link to the revealed “man of mystery.” Hehehe… But that was a good article, too. I’ll take the “Blue Dahlia” over the “Black Dahlia” any day.
Loved Wilder’s line about Chandler, “He was a mess but he could write a beautiful sentence.”

Shame about Feast.
When are you going to finish that rewrite?
When are you going to finish that rewrite?
Mystery Man,
Don’t get me started on BLACK DAHLIA! I sat through it a couple of days ago. This is the first time in quite a while that I seriously wanted my money back. That was STRIKE 2 for my week last week… First the book — then the flick. I keep waiting for an airplane engine to fall out of the sky and crush me. I read a lot of articles every day and try to bookmark the most interesting.
MaryAn,
I agree about FEAST. I understand that it had to be really written down for the ultimate budget… And it shows.
Chesh,
Rewrite?
What rewrite?
I could be done with it today but I choose not to be. LOL.
I learned this perfect comeback from a friend in the UK…
“Do you want it right OR do you want it right now?”
Keeps working for me.
Actually, as I get deeper into the rewrite, I’m creating new things that must be layered into previous sequences…
I’m having WAY TOO MUCH FUN with it.

He’s in the gutter, but thinks he’s a star?
That is fucking brilliant. Worthy of an, mm, Oscar.
