Screenwriting Scoop!
Okay, so I thought everybody read screenwriting articles… Everything from screenwriter interviews to newbies breakin’ into the business.
I mean… I READ A LOT OF ARTICLES!
I don’t even post half the articles I read on the blog because it takes so long… So I’m sitting here with all these online articles about screenwriting, screenwriters, gurus, books, etc. and I’m wondering how I can make more of these available to you all.
Why would I want to do that?
Well it just happens to be one of the things I get the most email about… Some visitors ask me where I find ‘em or how I find ‘em.
So I’m takin’ a break from the rewrite… Gotta STOP doing that because every time I do, I come up with some other little project that ends up taking me several hours… LOL.
Anyway, here’s my gift to you:
It’s kind of a Digg.com clone but strictly for the world of screenwriting. I threw in a couple of other slightly related categories but the GIST is definitely screenwriting.
Here’s how it works…
You can simply go to the site, click on a headline that grabs you and that takes you to the actual article.
That’s it!
Of course for you hardcore procrastinators like me, you can sign up, become a member, find some interesting articles, and post the links to them for the rest of us to read.
Or not.
It’s just a little pet project of mine and you are all welcome and invited to participate if you are so inclined.
Bugs…
I’m having a little problem with users uploading their own avatars… It seems that my server needs something that it doesn’t have but I am working on it…
I will eventually, flesh it out and make it look a little prettier but GEEZ… I gotta finish this rewrite.
Check it out — have fun with it!

I’ve found that reading screenplay articles just makes me jittery.
Also, it makes me feel like I’ve done nothing.
I mean, i SHOULD read more of them, but usually a big glass of vodka and a Tom Hanks movie will produce the same effect. …And it takes less energy to drink vodka in front of the TV
Jess,
Yeah, they make me jittery too…
I LOVE IT!

Did you put this together dude? If so, are you finding all this articles and posting them, or are have you set up some kind of engine that does it for you?
At any rate, very cool. You are contributing to more procrastination of course, but the good kind.
Will,
It’s a script I found a few days ago… All the stories I posted, I found over the last couple of weeks.
Apparently, two new users have posted links to new articles…
So far over 300 unique visitors… LOL. My tracker shows that people are staying on for an average of 12 minutes.
So maybe that’s just enough procrastination…
Unk
Are you better than me?
//scribosphere
(your number one fan)
Thanks, Unk! You’re the best!
Unk Dude, this is purty cool.
Thanks Unk. I signed up. I’ll see if I can contribute.
Poke

Except my ex-wife.
Poke,
Any screenwriting related stories are welcome… Even if it’s just a little stretch. As long as we can squint and see something about screenwriting. LOL.

You have opened up a door to procrastination hell here. Do you know this?
But what a great idea.
Jutratest,
Average time on site is now up to 14 minutes…
508 Unique visitors today…
Sorry about that… LOL.

What a gem! Nice work Unk!
I’ll never write at this rate.
Wow that’s pretty cool thanks.
They’re not actually going through digg as well are they? Is it just the same images for the digging thing?
Before I start my writing day, and after I read emails and check NHL scores for my pool results, I surf the WWW for screenwriting blogs and articles… thanks for the heads up, mucho appreciato
Also a note to your fellow readers, a good way to stay abreast of current trends is to do a Google Blog search on “screenwriting” “screenwriter” and “screenplay”
Go to Google.com, on the search bar up top click on “More”, it brings down the Blog Search, then fire away
[...] Unknown Screenwriter has created a new site that can be basically sumed up as digg for screenwriting. It’s called Screenwriting Scoop! [...]
Have you tried using http://del.icio.us/ for that? It allows you to aggregate your links on your blog as you read them.
But it looks cool, what you are doing. I think I shall peruse at length.
Thanks, Unk!
Y’know, for as much time as spend surfing the Web, i’m actually rather bad at it. This is a big help. :-)
Caught this thing a few days back. Didn’t realize it was a new invention.
Great stuff.
Spat,
I’m familiar with del.icio.us but never really got into it… I’m not into Digg.com either although it can be quite good for coming up with story IDEAS.
Icaterus,
Nope — nothing is going through or to Digg.com. I’ll be changing the look of the images when I have the time… It’s only me screwing around with the site. It actually takes me just as long to find the article, jam it into ScreenwritingScoop.com as it would to jam it in a post. What I like about this is that I can keep coming back without too much of a search.
Moviequill,
In addition to performing searches on “screenwriting†“screenwriter†and “screenplay†— I also recommend making a list of your favorite writers, directors, and producers, and performing a search within Google News. On top of that, a few variations on the norm that can get you different results are:
scriptwriter
spec script
spec script sales
spec screenplay
film writing
film writer
You get the idea…

Your toy is out of control. It needs to be secured in a crate and stored next to the Arc of the Covenant.
God damn it Unk, I already spent too much time online! LOL
Is this some master plan to prevent the rest of us completing our specs, or are you really avoiding the last few pages of your current rewrite? LOL
First of all, I refuse to click through until I’ve written ten pages of my script. I know you, you are like the crack man down the street from my old apartment in New York. :-)
Thanks for making it easy. Way too easy.
