One of my favorite actors in the world died yesterday… To me, Peter Boyle made it look easy. I rarely watch regular television but I admit to tuning in to EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND once in a while, just to watch his genius:
US Actor Peter Boyle Dies Aged 71
I really hate it when this happens.

Joe, Young Frankenstein, Taxi Driver and The Friends of Eddie Coyle… that’s a pretty good run of films.
He’s part of one of my favorite exchanges between two actors. From Taxi Driver:
Wizard: Look, look at it this way, you know uh, a man, a man takes a job, you know, and that job, I mean like that, and that it becomes what he is. You know like uh, you do a thing and that’s what you are. Like I’ve been a, I’ve been a cabbie for seventeen years, ten years at night and I still don’t own my own cab. You know why? ‘Cause I don’t want to. I must be what I, what I want. You know, to be on the night shift drivin’ somebody else’s cab. Understand? You, you, you become, you get a job, you you become the job. One guy lives in Brooklyn, one guy lives in Sutton Place, you get a lawyer, another guy’s a doctor, another guy dies, another guy gets well, and you know, people are born. I envy you your youth. Go out and get laid. Get drunk, you know, do anything. ‘Cause you got no choice anyway. I mean we’re all fucked, more or less you know.
Travis: Yeah, I don’t know. That’s about the dumbest thing I ever heard.
RIP
The man was a genius — and he’ll be missed. God bless, Mr. Boyle.
Great old school character actor — sad to see him go.
It’s guys like this that made me want to write scripts in the first place.
Ironically, when I think of him, I think of him and Christopher Lloyd in Dream Team. He did sarcastic weirdos so well.
And talk about weird — Matt Hader, I was just talking about you three hours ago to another screenwriter.
We were trying to get hold of a copy of Dead Horse!
My ears were, oddly enough, experiencing a slight burning sensation a few hours ago…
We’re trying to nail down a distribution deal right now.
I can never hear “Puttin’ on the Ritz” without thinking of Peter Boyle’s Frankenstein, and “Everybody Loves Raymond” was one of my favorite shows when it was own.
Sad to see him go.

Keep us informed, because we’d definitely like to see the film.
I’ve got Taxi Driver right now in a Netflix envelope in my bedroom. It should be Young Frankenstein. Thanks for giving up a place to greive, Unk.
I’m still sort of shocked. He was a favorite actor of mine.
I can’t speak much. 71 is fairly young when you think about it.
First Madeline Kahn, now Peter Boyle. The cast of Young Frankenstein is slowly leaving us. All that’s left now is Gene Wilder (Marty Feldman left us a while ago…)
