My Visual Pitch

My Visual Pitch Summer Contest!Something a little different today… A long time reader, Mike Scherer sent me an email thanking me for the about back in July… His email was so cool that I went ahead and asked him to do a little write up about his experience so I could post it here…

And he was kind enough to do just that…

Here’s Mike:

I love to write. I think about writing all day at work (don’t tell my boss). I write for at least an hour at a local bookstore after work. And I write on weekends. Net result: several published short stories and seven completed screenplays. Maybe you’re just like me, or maybe you’re just starting out, but in either case we all wonder the same thing.

Will anyone ever see my work?

Well, now they can. Unk has been kind enough to offer me this opportunity to make a pitch to you. No, not one of my screenplays, but a pitch for a service, a pitch for . First let me say that I am in no way affiliated with the good folks over at My Visual Pitch. I am merely a satisfied customer. But I will say this: I think you are totally bonkers if you don’t go to the top of your browser and type in: –right now, and look the site over, then sign up for one of their three, count ‘em, three levels of service.

For screenwriters, this service is a dream come true. You become the director of your movie. You create the trailer and show the world what your script will look like up on the big screen. When I first saw my visual pitch it blew me away. It brought all those weeks and months of writing to life, and it allowed me to see my log line visually. And that was a big help.

The staff is great. Pamela Schott and Susan Lockwood could not have been nicer. If you feel intimidated about creating your own visual pitch, they are more than willing to point you in the right direction and provide any advice or assistance they can. Also, there are links to other web pages that offer video clips, stills, and music you can use to create your pitch. For more info on this see their “Learn More” page at .

Hopefully Unk has supplied a link to my visual pitch to give you fellow scribes a feel for what can be done. I’m tellin’ ya. There is no greater motivator to keep you writing than to see your work in video format.

Good luck and keep writing.

Mike Scherer

Thanks Mike! Very cool and I know Pamela is working OVERTIME to really make My Visual Pitch a success and I believe it’s going to happen… I know we (the collective we) will be checking out some visual pitches there in the future.

September 12th is coming up… That’s when My Visual Pitch announces the semi-finalists of their summer contest… On 17 September, VOTING BEGINS! According to the site, visitors will be voting for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. 26 September is the big day where the actual winners will be announced.

And remember… 1st place is gonna get up close and personal with me via script consultation… So be sure to visit MyVisualPitch.com and vote starting 17 September!

Wow. Thank you, Unk, for the generous mention on your blog. I appreciate you so much!

To Mike’s credit, he uploaded three excellent loglines for us to select from, so making the Visual Pitch was easy. If his screenplays are half as engaging and memorable as the logs themselves, it’ll only be a matter of time before he finds himself screenwriting for a living.

Thanks again, and I’ll be talking with you soon to hook you up with the lucky bastard that gets to do a script consult with you.

    Pamela
