Just JOSHING Josh… Get it?

I know he’ll be stopping by to get his own JOSHING in but really… A great post by regular COMMENTER, Playwright over at his . Maybe it’s the fact that I’ve been up for another couple of days… Maybe it’s the fact that I’m still UP right now… Maybe it’s the fact that I couldn’t help but get my own JOSHING in… But really, read the post… Then absorb it throughout the day.

I’ll be forcing myself through all these over the next few days because really… It’s just information… Good information to help build strong bones… Oops. I mean believable characters… So I’ll just be WHIPPING through that stuff till I get it done…

… Yeah, Baby… Still working on ‘em — coming along BETTER than I thought but there’s only so much time in a friggin’ day… And besides… I must have written over 60 emails in the last 24 hours.

You’re killin’ me people… K I L L I N ‘ ME ! Just JOSHING… LOL. I love it. Keep ‘em coming… I’ll reply if your email is worth a shit. Those that aren’t? You know who you are… LOL.

Last but not least little update… Gonna stick this up on later today but wow… Definitely worth reading for all. And yes… Screenwriting Scoop! barely survived a treacherous hacking attempt but I caught the fuckers before they did any real damage… But I just wanna know one thing… If you’re that fuckin’ smart, send me an email so I can get you started on the ULTIMATE SCREENWRITING SOFTWARE. Nope… No link on that phrase because there ISN’T any ultimate screenwriting software that I know of…

Not yet anyway but you never know…

So here’s the article:

Great article that sums up a whole lot about this business for so little reading…

Till later today…

“because he wanted to add chase scenes and explosions – just stick ‘em in anywhere, he’d said, that’s what audiences really wanted nowadays. ”

and that my friend is what is wrong with the current state of the industry. Everyone is passing on excellent material with the hopes the next action blockbuster boffo box office extravaganza is right around the corner (or the next script in the pile)

    I don’t want to produce.

    Moviequill,

It’s never really about the material, making movies, it’s about the attachments . . . attachments are what gets a movie made, whether a director or star, so no matter how great a script is, whether it gets made (and how, and the budget and the size) is entirely dependent upon the attachments . . . and as that they know they have this power, the attachments never fail to use it for their own means . . .

What’s the phrase, Unk? ABSOLUTE POWER CORRUPTS ABSOLUTELY . . . right?

I’m not endorsing the above method, by the way . . . I’d prefer people make movies simply because the story rocks, I’m just pointing out what I’ve noticed.

It’s one reason I decided to write that novel . . . Unk, we gotta talk soon - LOL!

    MaryAn,

I think you’d make a great producer… THE SINGING PRODUCER.

    Josh,

That’s the phrase but only 99.5% of the people in the business are affected by it.

The ultimate position to be in as a producer is to simply have several streams of financing at your fingertips along with distribution. If you’ve got both of those ready to go at a moment’s notice because THOSE ENTITIES believe in your ability to make a great film, you sincerely will not have as many of those problems in the article.

Having said that… We have a film that’s been ready for production for over a year now. We have all talent attached EXCEPT for the lead. We’ve looked at EVERYONE… It would make your head spin…

The lead that we WANT, can’t do it for two years. Our second choice wants $20 Mil UP FRONT. Several others are too old. Several others are not quite up to the task. One of the prospects’ politics don’t quite mesh with our mission statement.

We’ve got the money. We’ve got the crew. We’ve got everything we need but a lead.

    WE GOT NOTHIN’.

    That’s producing.
