I Bow to Greatness Horton Foote dead at 92
Winner of the Pulitzer Prize and two Academy Awards.
“I believe very deeply in the human spirit and I have a sense of awe about it because I don’t know how people carry on. What makes the difference in people? What is it? I’ve known people that the world has thrown everything at to discourage them, to kill them, to break their spirit. And yet something about them retains a dignity. They face life and don’t ask quarters.”

Unk,
Great quote from Foote, eh? The quote that stuck out for me was ‘I’ve spent my life listening’.
Both wonderful quotes. There ARE people who have endured the worst experiences life can offer but who, yes, still retain exceptional dignity. These are stimuli for us as writers – even if we don’t write about THEM per se.
Vale Horton. Condolences to your children/family.
My condolences
