Hey Bill,

Just curious, do you know the oldest published writer?

In my opinion, writers don't die.

Once published with good reviews, writers become immortal.

Cheers

First Greg McDonald, now Hillerman. All of my favorite writers are biting the dust! I read Hillerman's first book when it came out in paperback in the 70's (McDonald's, too) and bought all of the rest when they came out.

The amazing thing that Hillerman did was take the standard cop-crime novel and drop it into a strange world, completely reinventing it. You learned about a different culture as Joe or Jim was solving the crime. Great stuff.

I worry about who will go next, Joe Gores?

Sorry about that buddy. It hurts when someone close goes away (or somebody one barely knew, I know). May he be resting with God.

:)

Take care Unk. Keep reading and writing

I'd like to read a little of what he wrote.

Unk,

Sorry for your loss and our loss too. I've only read two or three of Mr. Hillerman's books but I enjoyed the milieu, enjoyed learning a different culture, enjoyed his talent.

Regards,
 Mike
