I bow to GREATNESS

luke dead at 83. I don’t know what to say… I had sincerely hoped he would live FOREVER. He was one of the coolest IF NOT THE COOLEST.

Whew… This is a rough one.

RIP Paul and say hello to Steve McQueen for us…

Gotta tell ya, this one has rocked me, more than most, and not just because I loved Cool Hand Luke and The Verdict, it’s really sort of hit me deep.

Newman was, by all accounts, an incredibly decent person and stand-up guy who, in addition to acting in movies and directing theatre and racing cars in his spare time, ran camps for kids with cancer and started up a salad dressing business in which one hundred percent of the profits go to charity.

Oh, and how can you not love a guy who ends up on Nixon’s enemies list?

The word “Legend” gets tossed around a lot, but this is one guy (up there with McQueen) who truly earned it.

    Damn, man.

What we have here is a failure to communicate. It sounded so much better when Newman said it.

This has been a bad year.

Full agreement here. This one hit me harder than most. Unfrickinbelievable.

Very sad loss indeed. A movie star of the old school, and all round good guy it seems.

He was so cool. I bet he and Jesus are scoping chicks and smoking cigarettes together right now.

“If he’d just pay me what he’s spending to make me stop robbing him, I’d stop robbing him.”

Newman was a class-act; an actor, not a celebrity, an activist, but not a blowhard.

Check him out in “Hudsucker Proxy”. It showcases him at his comedic best, IMO.

    “a failure to communicate”
Just saw clips of this recently. Amazing.

I watch the news, I read the Net, and I have not heard of his passing yet… Very sad. I didn’t realize he was that old. Thanks for the information.

Wow. I didn’t know of the dressing going to charity. I think everyone will miss him and new people who just heard of his name will start looking to the film collection that he left behind.

Cloris Leachman has spoken on E. T. that she did a movie with him in the past and she “sung” to him that she later noticed sounded more like a mewing noise (ha ha; her word not mine).

God bless his family and friends who are survived by him.

    God loves ‘em. . .

I remember when my dad’s mom died. . . it was more of a change on the inside.

    I love ya.

May she rest. . . wherever she is.
