I'd love to get more traffic to my little myspace blog on screenwriting and filmmaking. It's new, and just my own idiosyncratic thoughts - but it yearns for some commentary... so if you find something quotable there, feel free to snag it!

LOL. MaryAn... Are you just JOSHING me? Basically, the best way for prospective screenwriters to find a resource web site will be for them to perform a search. 9.75 times out of 10, the prospective screenwriter is going to use Google to perform that search.

Hence, I would prefer that the new site be search engine friendly... Which means trying to keep as much duplicate content as possible OFF the site.

I figure since the site's being built as I type this, it's probably a good idea to just put that out there right now... Most of the time, new sites don't take SEO into consideration until after they're established... They they start backtracking and trying to figure out a way to get more traffic.

I'm not so worried about traffic as I am about prospective screenwriters trying to find a relevant article that relates to their search... The more we police the duped content, the faster the site's going to take off which is something I prefer...

Of course we could just toss everything up there and let the dice roll but in the end... I feel that would be way too counterproductive.

Okay... More explanation?

SS,

All you need to do to contribute is to contribute... LOL. I'll read it before prospective publishing... If I feel there's something that should added, subtracted, tweaked, we'll enter into a discussion...

Just to let you know...

Some EXPERTS have offered some of their articles that have already been written and I have absolutely NO PROBLEM with that as long as the articles are substantial...

Having said that... Google is really the only search engine to be concerned with on this project and over the next couple of years, they are really going after sites with duplicate content.

So whether you're a Pro, and EXPERT, or just somebody who knows quite a bit about screenwriting, I do have to ask one thing...

That "IF" your articles exist ANYWHERE ELSE on the web, you'd be doing us BOTH a favor by tweaking your article to be at least 25% DIFFERENT from the way it exists elsewhere. Otherwise, all the sites that host said duplicate content are going to take a hit in Google's search engine rankings and I feel this would be counterproductive to the overall effort.

I suspect we might get a few contributions from sites that already have more or less the same post/article on the contributor's site which again is fine with me but please change the content i.e., the WORDING at least 25% overall and that really means tweaking each paragraph so by the end of the article/post, we have at least an overall 25% change.

Additionally, if you turn around and share this same article/post with other web sites out there, you will definitely want to repeat this process before submitting the article/post to another site.

I have ways of looking for existing duplicate content but of course I have no way to police future sites hosting the same content so just remember...

DUPLICATE CONTENT IS BAD. When I say duplicate, I mean a 100% clone of some content already in existence on the web. A simple way to handle this is to simply go into the existing information and rewrite each paragraph into a shorter, more concise paragraph but with the same intent and meaning.

Hope that explains it... If not, just yell out.

"I've never once played professional football but..."

Okay, if I wasn't sold before, that just sold me -- cause I swear if the Tuna had just called me last year The Boys would have had one for the other thumb in January.

yeah I definitely yell like a hothead coach during football but I'd be lucky to buy my way into a grade school football team...Luckily I feel my knowledge of movies and screenplays is leagues better than that. Hopefully, Unk if you'll have me, I 'll get a chance to contribute. Even if it is a crock...
