Another free screenwriting program…

Page 2 Stage...I meant to get this post up on Christmas Day but it just didn’t work out but better late than never when it’s free…

Right?

A temporary diversion from CHARACTERS and then back to them…

First of all… My apologies to Mac users… You’re once again out of luck as this program is for Windows only… It seems that the nice people that once sold the screenwriting software are now GIVING it away for free. Support is now through the ONLY.

I’ve downloaded it and typed a few pages and for free, it’s not too bad… If you’ve already got Movie Magic or Final Draft then you’ll most likely want to stick with them but if you’re still using something OTHER than those two programs, Page 2 Stage might just fit into your screenwriting toolbox.

You can download it by navigating the Page 2 Stage web site or if you’re feeling adventurous, you can download it right here on the blog (no viruses, I promise):

You’ll have to punch in the following Username and Password:

Username: WindwardReports.com
Password: XSSZLcYZuWSXRhNXQOM

About the only real problem I can see with the software is that it doesn’t have the ability to create a PDF document… However, you can easily resolve that by downloading a free PDF printer driver…

I just downloaded and installed (free) and tried it with Page 2 Stage and it worked like a charm…

So MERRY CHRISTMAS two days late!

This is pretty good software. The guy/company who created it do Windows programming, so the software itself was pretty speedy and responsive.

I know that Movie Magic was started by writers who needed software and learned to program. Dunno about Final Draft.

Final Draft & Movie Magic offer the most features, but I believe that Page 2 Stage is probably the better written software (if that makes sense).

All in all, you can’t beat the deal with a stick. Free screenwriting software that just embarrasses all those Word macro programs.

Hey, for all you mac users, you can go for CeltX, which is free and also does the job.

I use Final Draft myself — I know it’s expensive but I consider it an essential tool for the job.

Apple rules. Macbooks rock my world.

    That is all.

    Unk,

Don’t know if it’s better than what I have, but I had a jolly good time watching the demo video.

FYI: Per my word, I made a contribution in your honor to Food for the Poor, Inc. They help orphans, build homes, and provide food, clothes, and school supplies to impoverished areas in the Caribbean and Latin America.

Can’t have them send you a card announcing the gift for obvious reasons.

There’s still time to make a last minute tax deductible contribution yourself. Every tax break helps.(http://www.foodforthepoor.org/site/c.iqLTIWOAKrF/b.1469201/k.BCD0/Home.htm)

Merry Christmas. So glad you blogged into my life.

    Hugs,
    M

    MaryAn,

I actually do need to do exactly that according to my tax attorney.

Thanks so much. Been there — done that. Wore the same “purchased at a church rummage sale tee shirt” for years. LOL.

And thanks so much for the contribution!

Eeek having to unlock it with a username and password seems like a backward idea.. but apart from that it looks cool.
